Google's smart contact lenses just went from concept to reality

Alphabet

Last year we learned that Google was embarking on a project to make smart contact lenses for measuring glucose levels. That project led to the formation of a whole health-focused unit, the Life Sciences team, which has just graduated into its own standalone Alphabet company.

The contact lens project was one of Google's "moonshot" projects, leaving little certainty that it would ever

10 best gaming laptops 2015: top gaming notebooks reviewed

The Aorus X5 won top ranks and now it has joined our list of the best gaming laptops.

You don't even need to tell us what happened when you told your friends that you want to buy a gaming laptop. Their inner elitist got the best of them, and bashed you for not just building an outright gaming desktop. But we get you. Building a gaming PC takes knowledge and dexterity that you just don't have or care to develop.

That's where the gaming laptop shines, as a fast lane to PC gaming. No need to build a case or even buy a monitor. Of course, that convenience usually comes with a hefty price tag. Most vendors start their asking prices at around $1,400 (about £901, AU$1,894) for 13 and 14-inch products, whereas the biggest and beefiest 17 and 18-inch models can skyrocket upwards of $3,000 (around £1,931, AU$4,059).

If you're ready to accept that a gaming laptop will almost never be as affordable or offer the same level of performance as a comparably-priced gaming desktop, then your decision is already made. But again, the gaming notebook is a device of convenience and portability over raw power. Without further ado, here are our top gaming notebooks so far.

BlackBerry's Android phone could be here before the holidays

The picture in question could very well be representative of what we'll see in the final device, codenamed "Venice". The curved edges of its body, as well as the slide-out physical keyboard are features that align with rumors. Additionally, the device appears to be running Android 5.0 Lollipop, at least, that's what some of the icons splashed in Material Design aesthetic would suggest.

Ever since the company's slider phone went under the radar after being shown off at MWC 2015, we've been wondering what would become of it. It's entirely possible that BlackBerry is still at work on a BlackBerry 10 device with a slide-out keyboard, but then again, it could also be that the company wants to make a big splash by debuting the Venice exclusively for Android OS.
